WORKSHOPS

When I was a little girl, I was lucky enough to have some crazy grown-ups around me who would come up with ideas and activities that encouraged me and my friends to experience arts and crafts freely, without ever feeling that we had to be “good at it”. We drew at every possible scale, crafted puppets out of wooden spoons, knotted fabric leftovers into costumes and engaged into a number of projects that later gave me the confidence of playing with visual arts because the process of it is fun.
Once, we had a huge collective collage project set up on a table at home for months: everyone who came by was invited to contribute and stick or draw whatever they liked. The outcome was completely crazy, but it had so many stories and memories connected to it that we kept it. When I look at it now, it makes me feel the same careless curiosity I enjoyed back then.

And probably because I am still a child inside, I now create spaces for kids of all ages where they can express freely and think creatively.

If you live in Brussels and want to spend an afternoon of fun and experimentation with your children and their friends, I can organize small workshops at your place for groups up to 5 kids. I love to propose activities that stimulate visual thinking through different materials and techniques.
I believe that visual literacy starts with having a lot of fun and by breaking away from the idea of having to "make a nice drawing", so yes - we might end up covered in paint.

Have a look below at some of the workshops that I can bring to your kitchen table, and get in touch with me to find out more.

MOnsters!

Age: 7-11
Group Size:
up to 5
Duration:
1 - 2 hours
Why:
In this workshop we combine the Surrealist game of cadavre exquis with the use of different techniques (painting with big brushes, drawing with pencil, collage of unusual materials…). The combination will generate the craziest monsters you have ever seen. And wait - we are doing this BIG.
Material: I will bring all what’s necessary. In this workshop we do definitely get paint on our hands, face, and sometimes clothes. We ideally work vertically (we lean a big cardbord on the wall), so it would be perfect to be in a space where we don’t risk damaging wooden floors with paint.
